Frontage turns a business’s existing web page into a website. This page explains what we collect to do that, what we never collect, and who else is involved.

The browser extension

The extension does nothing until you click it. It does not run in the background, does not watch your browsing, and does not read pages you have not asked it to read.

When you click Frontage on a page, it collects from that page only:

  • A screenshot of the page.
  • The visible text on the page.
  • Links on the page, and text stored in element attributes.
  • Coordinates published in the page's own markup, so a map can be placed.

That information is sent to Frontage, read once to identify the business, and used to build your site. It is attached to the project it created and to nothing else.

Why the extension asks for its permissions

  • Access to the current tab — to photograph and read the page you clicked on. This is granted per click, not permanently.
  • Scripting — to run the reader on that page at the moment you click.
  • Storage — to keep your sign-in on this device and the capture you are working on. It stays in your browser. A capture includes screenshots of the page, so the extension also asks to be exempt from the small default storage limit.
  • Tabs — to notice when you navigate away, so the popup stops showing a business you have left.
  • Alarms — to check on a build that is still running after the popup has been closed.
  • Access to websites you use it on — the extension can run on any page, because a business listing can be on Google, a directory, or the business’s own site. It only ever reads the tab you click it on, and only at that moment.

Your account

To build and keep sites you need an account. We store your user id, name, email address and profile photo as supplied by your sign-in provider, the projects you create, and your credit balance and its history.

Payments

We never see or store your card. Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, which acts as merchant of record and is the seller of record for your purchase. We receive only the fact that a payment succeeded, the product bought, and an identifier for your customer record.

Who else processes your data

Frontage cannot work without these. Each receives only what its job requires:

  • Clerk — sign-in and account management.
  • Vercel — hosting for this site and for the sites it builds.
  • v0 by Vercel — generates and hosts the websites you build.
  • OpenAI — reads a captured page once, to identify the business on it.
  • Google Places — receives the business's name and address, and returns the coordinates used to place the map pin on the site. No information about you is sent.
  • Cloudflare R2 — stores captures and the files of published sites.
  • Dodo Payments — payments, invoicing and tax.
  • Neon — the database holding your account and projects.
  • Google Analytics — counts visits to this site. Not used on the sites you build.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising.

Analytics and cookies

This site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read. It sets a cookie in your browser and tells Google your approximate location, your device and which pages you opened. It does not receive your name or your email address, and we do not use it to identify individual people.

The websites you build carry none of this. No analytics, no tracking pixels and no third-party scripts of any kind are put into a generated site — not ours, and not anyone else’s. A site you publish reports its visitors to nobody.

Browser-level tracking protection, an ad blocker, or Google’s own opt-out add-on will all stop it, and nothing on this site stops working if you use them.

How long we keep things

Captures are working files and are removed on a rolling basis. Projects and published sites are kept until you delete them or close your account. Credit history is kept for as long as we are required to keep financial records.

Your choices

You can delete a project at any time. To close your account or ask for a copy of your data, email us and we will act on it. Removing the extension removes everything it stored on your device.
